OUTDOOR TYPE

"You do not have to be a fantastic hero to do certain things, to compete you can be an ordinary chap, sufficiently motivated." Thus spoke Sir Edmund Hillary, world renowned mountain climber and Antarctic explorer on his motivations, desires and inner psyche.

What he failed to mention, was that scaling the heights of countless snow covered peaks gave him the chance to stride around with a bunch of like minded chaps in some of the finest collection of knitwear, British Army surplus, and down jackets seen outside of Margate's finest sons, Breuer & Dawson. Before the advent of Gortex, breathable fabrics, whatever, whoever; these hardy souls braved the elements in woolly jumpers, army kit and liberally applied goose grease. This piece is dedicated to their endurance and sheer bloody mindedness. The photos date from the 1940's through to the 1970's and are a brief snapshot of how mountaineering clothing changed through the decades. Concluding with a selection of our finest knitwear and outerwear for you delectation.

I am glad to see that there are people who are passionate about the outdoors because although sometimes the weather can be bad but when you get a good day you may as well make the most of it. There are lots of activities that can be done so why not enjoy the good weather and spend some time outside.
