BIG STAR

In the first of an occasional series, the Musical Heroes of Breuer & Dawson, we focus on the all too short career of Memphis pop maestros Big Star.

Formed in 1971 by ex Box Tops singer Alex Chilton, they shone brightly for a brief 3 year period, during which they recorded 2 albums  #1 Record & Radio City.

Their legacy can be seen in a long list of admirers ranging from Cheap Trick to Teenage Fanclub, REM, Wilco, The Replacements, the list goes on.

There is a wealth of material to explore...

In the words of Alex Chilton

" Those records are brilliant in some ways, and they are the gropings of young fools in others"
